CES-MED supports 12 more municipalities from the South-Med region to join the CoM

The CES-MED project assisted six more Moroccan municipalities, from the network of cities of the Moroccan Association of Eco-Cities (AMEV), in their adhesion to the Covenant of Mayors (CoM).
The new communes: Belfaâ, Fam El Hisn, Figuig, Mdiq, Sefrou and Tiznit are now members of the CoM and will start to develop their Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs).
In this context, the CES-MED project is organizing, in collaboration with the AMEV and the Ministry of Energy in Morocco (MoE), a training for the managers of these six communes in addition to 9 other municipalities, which applied for membership of the CoM.
The training will be held on November 21 and 22, 2017 in Rabat and aims to provide the executives of the selected municipalities with the tools that will enable them to carry out the Commune's Baseline Emission Inventory (BEI) and to initiate the preparation of the Action Plan.
Six other municipalities from Lebanon, in the Mashreq region, have also joined the Covenant of Mayors initiative. The municipalities of Hasbaya, Jezzine, Batloun, Kawkaba, Kherbet Rouha will complete the list of affiliated local authorities in the Mashreq region who join the largest global initiative of cities, committed to combat climate change and plan for a greener future.
