New financing opportunities: the EU-funded ‘ENI CBC MED Programme’ launches the 1st call for standard Projects

The first call for the financing of standard projects, which addresses the 11 Programme Priorities, is open until 9 November 2017. The budget available is €84.6 million. 
 
The eligible countries in this programme are: Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Palestine, Portugal, Spain and Tunisia.
 
 
The Programme provides a framework for implementing cooperation projects in four main thematic objectives:
 
  • Business and SMEs development through support to start-up enterprises and the enhancement of Euro-Mediterranean value chains and clusters. Diversification of tourism into new segments and niches is also part of this objective.
  • Support to education, research, technological development and innovation, with focus on technological transfer, commercialization of research results and enhancement of links between industry and research.
  • Promotion of social inclusion and the fight against poverty, addressing the NEETS category (Not in Education, Employment or Training) as well actors from the social and solidarity economy.
  • Environmental protection, climate change adaptation and mitigation, including efficiency in water, waste and energy management as well as conservation of coastal areas.
The General Objective of the ENI CBC MED 2014-2020 is to foster fair, equitable and sustainable economic, social and territorial development, which may advance cross-border integration and valorise participating countries’ territories and values.
 
ENI CBC MED BENEFICIARIES
 
The Programme is open to public and private bodies established in the participating countries, and international organisations, in accordance with the provisions of the ENI Regulation and ENI-CBC Implementing Rules, and with the other applicable EU and national legal frameworks.
Private entities must comply with their national rules and the EU rules on State Aid. The conditions and modalities of their participation will be specified in the Guidelines for Applicants in each call for proposals.
