9 more months to go for CES-MED! The “Cleaner Energy Saving Mediterranean Cities” (CES-MED) project has been granted a second extension

The European Commission has granted CES-MED a second project extension, for a duration of nine months, as of July 2017. Our team of experts will thus continue delivering technical assistance to national and local authorities, cities and municipalities in eight countries until April 2018. 

Rachid Enassiri : CES-MED poetic voice in Morocco

The winner in the Environmental Poetry competition in the framework of the COP22 organised by Human Dynamics, Rachid Enassiri is one of the 16 young leaders selected by the European Commission this year to attend the European Development Days - Young Leader Programme. Recently, he has received the award of the “Outstanding Young Person in Morocco in the category of Environmental and Moral Leadership”.  

CES-MED Information Day in Ghardaia, Algeria on June 7th 2017

Following the information days held during the last quarter of 2016, for the Algerian communes - Algiers for the central region, Oran for the west and Annaba for the eastern region, the CES-MED project is organizing on 7 June in Ghardaia an information day on the Covenant of Mayors initiative (CoM) and the new energy planning tools available to communes (SECAPs) for the benefit of local authorities in the south of Algeria.

CES-MED took part in the 3rd SCM in the SUDEP project, hosted by the UfM

CES-MED joined the 3rd Steering Committee Meeting of the SUDEP South SM, hosted by the Union for the Mediterranean (UFM) in Barcelona (3-4 May 2017).  More than 50 participants, representing the six countries from the South Mediterranean (Morocco, Tunisia, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon and Jordan) gathered during two days in Barcelona. 

The “Beirut Bike Sharing System” event was launched in the capital of Lebanon to cut down traffic and pollution.

On Sunday 30 of April 2017, thousands of bicycles took part in a cycling tour, organised by the Municipality of Beirut, to mark the start a self-service bikes in the city. The launch of the event took place under the patronage and presence of Mr. Saad Hariri Prime Minister of Lebanon. Mr. Hairiri participated in the bike ride and pledged to organise car-free days to prioritise cycling in the city.
