After some delay, CES-MED will go forward with its activities in Egypt. So far, part of the actions planned for the first phase of the project were completed, including the association of representatives of national authorities; the selection of two governorates to join the project; and conducting two training workshops with the Governorates’ staff.
On 28 April, the Steering Committee in charge of the twenty second "Conference of the Parties to the Framework UN Convention on Climate Change" (COP22), revealed the event’s visual identity at the Foreign Ministry in Rabat, Morocco. The COP 22 meeting will be held from 7 to 18 November 2016 in Marrakech, Morocco.
The CES-MED team has prepared country-specific newsletters for six of the countries covered by the project and the remaining newsletters will follow shortly. The publications have been approved by the Contracting Authorities and the focal point representatives from the affiliated countries.
The sixteen-page newsletters are made of eight chapters. Focus is put on the progress of the Project at national level and in the adhering cities, including the substantial progress on the development of their SEAPs.
On the week of March 14 to March 18 2016, Mr.Nicola Di Pietrantonio, Programme Manager at the Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations (Regional Programmes Neighborhood South) conducted a mission to Lebanon to visit a number of projects, including the CES-MED and SUDEP.
The EU-funded CES-MED Project has held its 6th Steering Committee (PSC) meeting in Brussels on March 8th 2016. Delegates and focal points from the eight affiliated countries, have participated in this first PSC after the granting of 18 months’ extension to the Project by the European Commission. The meeting was held in the premises of Thon Hotel in the centre of Brussels.
