A meeting on Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs) took place in the municipality of Sousse on December 17, 2015. Representatives of the local authorities, the National agency for energy efficiency (ANME) and CES-MED’s experts discussed the results of the Baseline Emission Study for Sousse and the Community Awareness and Promotion Plans.
CES-MED’s Team Leader shares the project’s experience on the elaboration of the Sustainable Energy Action Plans (SEAPs) and data collection of Baseline Emission Inventories in three selected localities in Lebanon: Beirut, Kab Elias and Baakline.
CES-MED and CEDRO 4 will be cooperating on the development of the Sustainable Energy Action Plan for the municipality of Kabrikha in Lebanon.
The CES-MED project has conducted a tailored communication and CAPP training workshop for the local authorities in the context of the implementation of the European Union funded project CES-MED in and its activities in Lebanon (promoting the development of renewable energies in the Mediterranean cities) under the European instrument for the neighborhood and partnership instrument (ENPI) and implemented by the Human Dynamics consortium.
The CES-MED project has co-organised with the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources (MEWR) a National conference on the elaboration of Sustainable Energy Action Plans on Nov 2nd 2015 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
On 15 October 2015, the Covenant of Mayors will hold its Annual Ceremony at the European Parliament in Brussels. This year, the Ceremony will be organised jointly with its sister initiative Mayors Adapt on adaptation to climate change. It will also unveil a "New Covenant", with more ambitious commitments for 2030.
An international forum on environment will take place October 12, 2015 in Rabat, the Moroccan Minister of Environment, Ms Hakima El Haite announced on September 2. The MoE is organizing this important forum, as the event is part of the talks preceding the 21st UN Conference on Climate Change (COP 21) to be held in Paris from 30 November to 11 December this year.
The Cleaner Energy Saving Mediterranean Cities (CESMED) project and the Support Programme for Insfratsructure Sector Strategies and Alternative FInancing (SISSAF) are amongst the top three finalists to run for the "Energy Ambassador of the Year 2015 Award” under the category “International Company". The Agency for the Promotion and Rational Use of Energy (APRUE) and the CES-MED project were pleased with the outcomes from hosting the national conference "Cities and Sustainable Energy" on June 10, 2015 at the Hilton Hotel in Algiers.
More than hundred delegates from Municipal Councils, municipal representatives, institutional and business stakeholders (the Ministry of Energy, DGCL, DUE Algiers, ANME Tunisia) discussed topics related to waste management, transport and public lighting.
The European Union funded projects "Cleaner Energy Saving Mediterranean Cities" (CES-MED) and "Sustainable Urban Demonstration Energy Projects" (SUDEP) held a Joint Steering Committee meeting on 5 May 2015, led by the European Commission at the Hotel Avanti in Mohammedia, Morocco. The meeting was followed by a High-Level Conference on on Climate Change, on 6 May in Skhirat, Morocco.
On 27 May, the National Agency for Energy Efficiency (ANME - Agence National de la maitrise de l’Energie) organised a national conference in Tunisia to promote municipal investments in energy efficiency. The event was supported by the EU-funded CES-MED project and more than 200 Tunisian municipalities gathered to launch the «Association of municipalities for energy transition » programme.
