Keren Energy Consultants who are providing support to the Israeli cities that are developing their SEAPs, and the key experts from the CES-MED project, held the launch meeting of SEAP studies at Ramla, Shfar'am and Rosh HaAyin in the period between November 11 and 12, 2014.

The 4th Steering Committee (SC) meeting of the CES-MED Project was attended by seven National Focal Points from the South Mediterranean countries as well as representatives of the Contracting Authority (DEVCO), the EU DG Energy, the Joint Research Centre (JRC), the Covenant of Mayors (CoM), the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the French Development Agency (AfD), the team of CES-MED Experts as well as CoMo (Covenant of Mayor’s Office) EAST and MED-ENEC project.
This October, the CES-MED team met for the first time with the newly appointed Palestinian Focal Point (FP), Mr Mohyee el Din el Ardeh and his assistants Rimah Rimah and Walid al Helawa.
We are proud to announce the adhesion to the Covenant of Mayors (CoM) of Ardeh and the Federation of Municipalities of the High Shouf (FMHC).
Ardeh has been active in the field of sustainable energy and recently submitted a proposal for funding from the EU-funded Sustainable Urban Demonstration Project (SUDeP). Ardeh’s adhesion to the CoM demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to a sustainable energy future.
On 30 September 2014 the meeting of the Algerian National Coordination Group (NCG) gathered, representatives from Agence Nationale pour la Promotion et la Rationalisation de l’Utilisation de l’Energie (APRUE), the Ministry of Energy and Interior, represented by the Director General of the Directorate General of Local Communities (DGCL), and the three pilot cities.
Fes 11 September 2014
The CES-MED team held meetings with the municipalities of Fes and Kentira on 11th and 12th of September for their adhesion to the "Covenant of Mayors (CoM)", The meetings were in the context of actions taken in sustainable development and renewable energies. In particular, energy recovery and transfer of energy, at an ad'hoc basis, to a tannery area in the outskirts of the city of Fes have been considered.
Workshop 2 for Israeli participating cities, Rosh HaAyin, Ramla and Shfar'am was held at the headquarters of the Union of Local Authorities in Israel in Tel Aviv on June 23, 2014. Representatives of the three pilot cities, the national focal point and the representative of the Union of Local authorities, actively participated in the workshop led by experts from CES-MED and the joint Research Centre (JRC) of the EU in Ispra (Italy).
The Second Workshop (WS2) for Tunisian cities was held between April 3-4, 2014.
Representatives of the three pilot cities: Sfax, Sousse and Kairouan, the representative of the Delegation of the European Union in Tunisia, the National Agency of Energy Conservation (ANME and the national focal point of the project attended the meeting in the town of Sousse.
The purpose of the workshop was to present the methodological framework of project interventions and to initiate the discussion on the implementation of a Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) for each municipality.
Representatives of three Algerian towns of Sidi Bel Abbes, Batna and Boumerdes met on March 10 – 11, 2014 in Algiers for the Second Workshop organised by the CES-MED project team. Present were representatives from the Delegation of the European Union (EUDG), the National Agency for Promotion and Rationalisation of Energy Utilisation (APRUE) and European Union’s research arm - the Joint Research Centre in Ispra (JRC - Ispra).
On the 28/09/2014 the Municipality of Benslimane and on the 26/09/2014 the Municipality of Sidi Bel Abbes, have officially signed and joined the Convenant of Mayors.
